Friday 4th May 2018

We have had a great World of Work Week, with lots of interesting visitors coming to East Craigs to tell us about their jobs. We would like to say a big thank you to all of the volunteers. Please watch the video below to see some photo highlights:

Lots of photos of classes engaging with WoWW have also been shared on Twitter. Parents/ carers are encouraged to follow East Craigs. Alternatively, scroll down on this page to find the live Twitter feed.

The P3/4 disco will now be held on Wednesday 28th March in school 7-8.30pm. The P5/6 Disco has been moved to 25th April 7-8.30pm in school. These changes are due to the Snow Closures and the need to reschedule events already planned. Information about these events will be issued by PTA  in due course.

World Book Day at East Craigs: 9/3/18

We had a great time coming to school dressed as our favourite book characters today, for a belated World Book Day!

Watch the photo collage below to see some of our costumes:

Great effort with the ’10 Minute Read’ challenges too – thank you to everybody who sent in photos from home.

Finally, we would be very grateful if parents/carers could take a few minutes to complete a short feedback survey about the Book Week experience. This will be helpful to us when planning other school focus weeks in the future:

School Open – Monday 5th March

Following a phenomenal team effort from more than 50 parents, carers and staff, to clear the entry and exit routes, car park and playground, not to mention the footpaths outside the school gates and a risk assessment having been undertaken, we are delighted to say that East Craigs will be open tomorrow – Monday 5th March.

Please do take care travelling to school tomorrow due to any potentially icy patches.  Doors will be open at 8.30am for children to come right in to school.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in the morning!

East Craigs Snow Clearance Gathering

Dear Parents and Carers

In order for us to be well prepared for opening our school on Monday, we are organising a snow clearing party at school on Sunday 4th March from 10.30am-12.30pm.

If you feel able to help us with this, please come along to school, wrapped up warm and with appropriate non slip footwear,  and armed with snow clearing shovels. We are looking for help to clear entry and exit paths to the doors to the school and fire exits.

Any willing volunteers must sign a form stating that they are physically fit to carry out the snow clearing activity. We are attaching the form for you to read through. We will have copies for you to sign on arrival at the school.

Please note that there will be no access for cars to the school car park.

Many thanks in advance.

Severe Weather

Dear Parents and Carers

Following the severe amber weather warning from the Met Office, all Early Years Centres, Nurseries, Primary, Secondary and Special Schools will remain closed on Friday 2nd March.

Please keep checking for the latest updates from  the City of Edinburgh Council.

In the meantime, we do hope that everyone is staying safe and keeping warm.  We look forward to seeing everyone when we return.

Kind regards,

Shelley Graham and Kirsten Johnston

Acting Head Teachers.

Unfortunately, due to weather conditions, the Gymnastics Showcase at Broughton High has been cancelled tonight. The event will be rescheduled for another date soon.
