P3A – Term 4
This week we have hugely enjoyed learning more about the World of Work. We have had different speakers coming into class and we have all learnt more about different types of jobs.
We began the week with Katherine speaking to us about being a research scientist – she brought in lots of bones for us to handle and try to name.
On Tuesday we had Maria, another STEM ambassador visit us to tell us all about engineering, specialising in electrical. We got to look at lots of insides of machines.
On Wedneday we learnt all about being a vehicle techinician from Mr McCaskey. We liked asking lots of questions about different cars.
On Thursday we had a visit from Mr Dillin, also a STEM ambassador at Virgin Money. We learnt all about Security Intelligence and how the bank looks after our money from any robbers or hackers.
Finally, on Friday we had Mr Walker visit us to tell us all about being a chef. We got to look at lots of different tools you use in the kitchen, the uniform and some food art!

This term we have had a science topic – Inside Out – learning all about the human body. We learned the names of some different bones in the skeleton and we really enjoyed learning about some different organs in the body too. We created some skeleton pictures using cotton buds.
We have also been reading about our senses – taste, hearing, sight, touch and smell. We did some fun experiments to find out the importance of each sense and then created some group posters to add to our wall display.
We have spent some time recently learning about the important of Remembrance Day.
In language, we wrote acrostic poems – each choosing our own word from a mild, hot and spicy list. Some of us chose quite long words for our poems to try an extra tricky challenge.
We also created some poppy field images. First we did a paint wash background for the fields and sky, then we used carved carrots in red paint to create each poppy. This was great fun!
This term we have really been enjoying learning some more French – here are some of the songs we have been singing in class to help us.
